Class time will be used for writing an outline and working on the information and notes you have on bullying and cyberbullying.
Wednesday, December 14
Vermont Online Library is a collection of databases that contain magazines, journals, videos, book excerpts, and newspapers. It is a paid subscription and a password is needed to access it. Today I will show you how to search for articles you can use for your project.
Monday, December 12
Class time will be used for finding quality sites for the bullying project and using NoteStar to save notes. You will also need to design a banner for your web page about bullying. If you can't remember how to do this - click here.
On Wednesday the class will learn how to use Vermont Online Library to look for more information.
Thursday, December 8
Review previous assignments and finish any unfinished work.
Monday, December 5
Today you will set up your NoteStar account for taking notes and keeping track of the websites that you find with information about bullying and cyberbullying.
Be sure to follow all of the directions to set up your account. Click here for the information.
Also, you will need to finish last week's lesson by tomorrow. The grade will be included in the midterm report.
Monday, November 28
Today you will begin to work on a new project: Bullying and Cyber Bullying
You will design 1 web page that has 2 annotated links to other sites and 1 link back to your site home page, a written 150 word report using information found on Vermont Online Library and a video interview clip.
For your information you will need:
2 articles from Vermont Online Library (I will show you how to find these.)
2 web sites

20 – spelling and grammar
20 – technical – layout, links work, video plays
30 – quality of information – sources cited, web pages evaluated, credible person interviewed
10 – video – edited and embedded
Online cruelty, also referred to as cyberbullying, takes place whenever someone uses digital media tools such as the Internet and cell phones to deliberately upset or harass someone else, often repeatedly.
Key Vocabulary
Target: A person who is the object of an intentional action
Offender: A person who has malicious intent to hurt or damage someone
Bystander: A person who does nothing when they witness something happening
Upstander: A person who supports and stands up for someone else
Escalate: To increase or make more intense
De-escalate: To decrease or make less intense
